I open up my heart to foes and friends alike,
And all I get in return is one creatively put together
Sentiment of compassion from another heart:
"I believe you. I believe you."
Humans can not bear the burden of their own,
It begs the question of why everyone is so disconnected.
We can not, but stubbornly do, carry our crosses all alone.
Invisible to the eye, deep within the gaze - a broken soul reflected.
Some drown in rivers, some drown in wine,
Most are drowning in the pretense that everything is fine.
Friends and foes, both aware that the heaven is crumbling,
Yet turn away or blankly stare at the other stumbling.
That's all fine; close your eyes, continue resting in your beds.
All one needs - to pass the time until the healing is over.
Rest your eyes, rest your heart, don't let us trouble your heavy heads.
This troublesome stop is just one of life's layovers.
Is it the lack of empathy, compassion, or sympathy
That drives a wedge between two souls?
One might ask this if one cared for such compatibility.
Whatever they do with their hearts, don't let it threaten the state of yours.
